Have you ever seen this symbol on the top of a website, or in your browser? Ever wondered what it was? It is an amazing way to engage with your client. This is a RSS feed symbol. RSS stands for " Rich Site Summary" but often called "Really Simple Syndication".
The symbol indicates a web feed on the page that allows for new content on that website to be "fed" into your RSS reader. Therefore you can subscribe to the website and be advised of new content. This is also often referred to as a news-feed.
Imagine if your clients were doing this to you. All your blogs, news stories and articles were directly fed onto their computer as you create them. Or even better still , they added the feed to their website with short snippets of your articles on thir website, with links back to your blog.

It seems that Australian business is not embracing the Internet and new technologies with a recent report though the 2013 MYOB Business Monitor showing that only 38% of the SME's researched had a website with this figure unchanging over the last 9 months.
Being Online Savvy is more than just having a website. Being Online Savvy is embracing these new technologies to be able to reduce your operating costs and increase your profitability.
Google Local or Google Maps

Confused about Google Local and Google Maps? No need to be. Google Places for Business looks after it all.
Is your business displayed on Google Maps. If so then you will have a Google Places page. You simply need to claim your page to start adding in relevant information about your business, including opening times, parking information, photographs and videos related to your business. You can also select categories for your business type.
If your business is not listed on Google Maps it is a very simple process to get listed, and the best thing is that it is a free service Google offer.
Your online supporters! It's all about ENGAGEMENT

Do you engage with your online supporters? So you ask, who are my online supporters. Your online supporters are the poeple that "like" your facebook page, or they are following you on twitter, or are following you on Google+. These people are your supporters, these people are your businesses fans that will follow what you say and be influenced by what you do.
So I ask again, Do you engage with your online supporters?

Have you ever Googled your business name?
If so, what comes up?
Apart form your website, your business name will show up in a number of listings in online directories. These usually carry either correct information about your business or incorrect information about your business.
I had a call from a prospective client recently to discuss redeveloping their website. In the process of investigating their internet presence, I found at least 10 different references to their business address and phone number. On discussion with the client I found that some of these addresses and phone numbers have been obsolete for at least 5 years. He wasn't even aware of his business being listed on these directories.
So. How does your business get listed on these online directories?
